An Estimate And Contract With Peace Of Mind
Our next step is to make a detailed plan of your deck from which we calculate a cost estimate for you. We will e-mail you a copy of the deck plan as well as a detailed explanation of everything we will do during the construction of your deck. These details include the type of materials we will use, the approximate measurements of the various aspects of the deck, construction methods used to comply with building codes, and finally a total cost to you for the finished product. Our total cost includes all materials, labour, and taxes, .... there are no hidden costs!.
Finally if you decide to accept our estimate, you will be presented with a signed contract that details all of the work, costs, and conditions of the project. This contract is your peace of mind that you will be getting a quality deck from Decks & Only Decks.
Before You Call Us, Consider This....
There are many options you should consider for your deck, foremost is what type of material to use. The most popular and affordable material is pressure-treated wood. This is easy to work with (from our perspective) and will give you a natural looking, beautiful deck. If you want to stay with wood but prefer we use cedar, remember that cedar is not as readily available in many dimensions, and it will cost about twice as much to purchase. Composite decking is a modern, stylish material that gives your deck a sleek, finished look, but the deck substructure is still made of wood. Composite decking is relatively maintenance free, but will cost you four to eight times more than similar wood materials.
A handrail system is another strong consideration. The Ontario Building Code requires a handrail system for decks that are greater than two feet (60 cm) above the grade of the land. Once again, wood is the most popular option, but handrails can come in vinyl and aluminum as well. Balusters (spindles) can be of wood, metal or even glass inserts, .... the choice is growing daily!
Finally, during our consultation, let us know if you plan on having anything heavy on your deck such as a hot tub. We can add extra strength to your deck during construction if we know this in advance.
